Description: My artwork here inspires me with hope because it shows the Earth becoming strong again after tough times. It's amazing how our planet can recover and be happy and healthy, even when things are challenging. The picture reminds us to treat the Earth kindly so that it can always be a wonderful place for everyone to live. This message is important to remember, and we can all play an important role in protecting our planet. |
2nd Place: Hansitha Teluguntla, 7th Grade
Description: I am hopeful because the storm will pass. When we think of the storms in our life, we think of stress, chaos, and destruction. But looking back at these events we know that they won’t last forever, and when the storm passes, it brings with it change and a new start. So when you are going through a storm, make sure to remember and be hopeful, because the storm will pass. Through the use of acrylic paint I showed a tornado, a classical symbol of destruction, and while it passes it brings with it a rainbow, a symbol of hope. |
Honarable Mention: Avni Choudepally, 8th Grade
Description: I'm hopeful because I believe that no matter what, there will always be a light in the dark. Even when, when you might be feeling completely lost or have many problems, there will always be someone or something that can give you the spark of hope to continue on. The world can be a scary and dark place, but once you find your light, you can find hope in anything. |
PHOTOGRAPHY
1st Place: Avni Choudepally, 8th Grade
Description: I'm hopeful because I believe that the words we use hold tremendous power. Every word we say, or write can either make someone's day better or worse. That is why I have hope that people will use their words to help others, because even a small compliment like, "Your shirt looks cool" can make someone feel a little bit better, even if it may not seem like such a big deal to you. That is why I'm hopeful; because I believe we can make a better world with words. Photography - 1st - Eera Bhawra 2nd - Aliya Srivastava Honorary Mention - Anvi Singh |
1st Place (Tie): Nithya Penmatsa, 6th Grade
Description: I am hopeful because the light at the end of the tunnel is way closer than you think! It's like a surprise waiting just around the corner, and every step is a bit of hope lighting up the way. Come join my adventure, where we find hope in all the twisty turns and make the dark tunnels super bright! |
2nd Place: Prisha Sharma, 7th Grade
Description: This bird shows that there is always going to be light wherever you go. This bird is a spark of hope in the middle of winter that spring will come and new experiences will occur. This can also represent someone who is having a hard time in something, but a light is there to show them the way. |
3rd Place: Krish Ozarkar, 6th Grade
Description: Some people’s efforts to preserve nature is helping the environment. Seeing nature’s beauty unfold before my eyes, and to have that ability to capture moments in time, encourages me to continue photography. Each day, I can see my photos getting better. What may have been “my best photo” 6 months ago, is now a picture I take everyday. With photography, boring weekends turned into adventures to Jordan lake, or Pungo wildlife refuge, where I’ve had amazing experiences, such as this photo, which displays a male Elk crossing a river in Cherokee, NC. |
FILM
|
1st Place: Avni Choudepally, 8th Grade
Description: I’m hopeful because even when you only see your flaws, there is always someone who sees the beauty in you. It’s easy for us to hate the parts of us we don’t like, but no matter what you believe, there will be a person who sees the good in you. You aren’t alone in the world, even when it seems like it, and despite the fact it might feel like no one would see the best in you, there are always people who like the parts of you that you might hate. I named my animation “Beauty” because it is about how people will always find the beauty in you, whether you see it or not, and that is why I’m hopeful. NO Entries for 2024-2025. |
DANCE
|
1st Place: Eera Bhawe, 7th Grade
Description: I am performing classical Kathak. The dance represents a Dove trying to free itself. I am wearing 100 brass bells on my ankles to represent the chains the dove is tied to. The blue colors of my dress symbolize peace. There are four parts to the dance. In the first part of the composition, the dove is tied to the chains and struggles. In the second part, the bird is trying to free itself from shackles. In the 3rd part, the bird is free and opens its wings, and in the 4th part, the Dove has finally found peace. No entries for 2024-2025. |
